Catering at Old Town Hall

Happy Grooms Matt and Scott!
This past Saturday Catering By Teatime had the privilege of catering the wedding reception for my dearest friend Matt and his husband Scott.  The wedding reception took place on a spectacular June afternoon at Old Town Hall in Fairfax City VA.  Old Town Hall is located in the heart of the nationally recognized City of Fairfax Historic District at 3999 University Drive.  Wedding catering at Old Town Hall is one of our favorite venues to serve.
Built in 1900 by Joseph E. Willard, the hall was presented to the Town of Fairfax in 1902. The hall immediately became the center of Fairfax social life.
Although neo-classical in style, the hall tastefully combines Tuscan
order columns with Federal-style details, such as the fanlight window
over the front doors and the round-headed gabled dormers. https://www.theknot.com/marketplace/old-town-hall-fairfax-alexandria-va-614137

Then the party could start.

Guests arrived and were greeted by Teatime staff with passed and stationary appetizers, wine and beer. One of our specialties – Apple Wood Smoked Sugar Spiced Salmon Filet – was served on a table display along with Assorted Domestic and Imported Cheeses with Crackers; Fresh Vegetable Basket with Dip and Hummus.

     What would happen next?

Passed Appetizers included Silver Dollar Crab Cakes with Roasted Red Bell Pepper Sauce; and Quesadilla Wedges with Salsa.  In the Northern Virginia and Washington DC community you cannot go wrong with crab cakes on your wedding reception catered menu!  They flew out of the kitchen.
The buffet style menu included Ruth’s House Salad of Mixed Greens-Tomato-Scallion-Pecans-Dried Cranberry-Gorgonzola Cheese in a Balsamic Vinaigrette; Grilled Garlic Lime Chicken on Bamboo Skewers; Linguine with Sun Dried Tomato, Cilantro and Parmesan Cheese; Garlic Roasted Red Bliss Potatoes; Bread and Roll Basket; Carved Steamship Round of Beef with Horseradish Cream.  And of course our Fresh Fruit Arrangement with Seasonal Fruits – created once again by the magic of Anita..

But what makes this venue special?

One of the perks of renting Old Town Hall is the venue has two different levels available for rental. This can be an attractive option for a couple considering the ceremony at the same site as the reception.  After the dinner and toasts, the guests were invited to the upper level for dancing.

What would the guests discover upstairs?

We set up a second bar and the guests danced the night away.  If you follow any of Teatime’s blog posts you have to know we are going to close with a Fabulous wedding cake!  Ruth has catered many weddings at this venue, for family as well as clients. The wedding cake for Matt and Scott was a Funfettti flavor using their color scheme of teal and silver.

In closing I must admit I am biased when it comes to this wedding reception.  This was a groom who is very dear to my heart.  I have catered a lot of wedding receptions over the years.  I have not cried at many.  I am honored to have been a part of the party as well as the chef for the meal.
I love you, Matt. Scott – you are a lucky guy.  Matt – so are you.
