Northern Virginia Catering: “Heavy Appetizers”
Our Heavy Appetizer Menu is one of Catering By Teatime’s most
popular menu. You can read the full menu description at our website www.cateringbyteatime.com for details.
We
find that many times people are hosting a party, wedding reception,
anniversary party for example, and the venue or space just does not
accommodate table and chair seating. A perfect solution is the
heavy appetizer party!
Basically everything listed
on this menu is utensil free. It works perfectly when there is limited
seating, guests standing up hold smaller plates of food. Plus it’s just
a FUN menu concept.
The Above antipasti photo
features multiple hard cured meats, hard boiled eggs, fresh mozzarella,
olives, marinated artichokes and roasted red bell pepper slices.
Fresh
Vegetable Basket with Hollowed Cabbage filled with Dip along side
Assorted Domestic and Imported Cheese and Crackers, featuring Wedges of
Brie w/ Cranberry-Walnut-Raspberry Topping.
Luscious Shrimp! |
You can never. ever. ever. go wrong with chilled shrimp!
Grilled Sesame Flank Steak on Bamboo Skewers |
For
a hearty option try our Grilled Sesame Flank Steak on Bamboo Skewers.
The flank steak is marinated in a soy sauce, apple vinegar, garlic and
sesame oil marinade, grilled and then sliced and skewered. Teatime is
famous for our “things on sticks” presentations. Our Grilled Indonesian
Chicken on Bamboo Skewers w/ Peanut Dipping Sauce is one of our most
popular items for heavy appetizer as well as on a traditional buffet
menu.
Other menu ideas for heavy appetizers include Baked
Artichoke, Spinach and Parmesan Dip w/ French bread; Stuffed Mushrooms
w/ Herbed cheeses and/or Spicy Sausage; Hot Crab and Artichoke Dip w/
French bread
A
Super Fun idea for a passed appetizer are shooters of soup! Above
pictured is our Gazpacho shooter. We take advantage of local Northern
Virginia Farmer’s Markets and use the freshest and ripest tomatoes to
make the most delicious and refreshing soups possible. During fall
months we often serve our Roasted Butternut Squash and Corn Chowder
Shooters.
Yes
we admit this is NOT a shot glass, but how pretty to serve soup in a
martini glass? This is a chilled Mango and Crab soup that is perfect on
a hot August night!
Additional appetizer offerings
include Silver Dollar Crab Cakes with Roasted Red Bell Pepper Sauce
(also made with Fresh Salmon in stead of the Crab); Manchego Tappas
(Risotto Cakes w/ Manchego Cheese); Spanekopita; Smoke Salmon Roulades;
Quesadilla Wedges w/ Salsa.
One of Ruth’s favorites is our Zucchini Pancake w/ Melted brie, photographed at the Athenaeum in Old Town Alexandria VA www.nvfaa.org
A
savory pancake made with flour, egg, Parmesan, and grated Zucchini than
topped with melted brie, it’s not only delicious, it’s always a
conversation starter. Who KNEW zucchini could taste like this?!
The
possibilities are endless. We always tell our catered clients “just
because you do not see something listed on a menu does not mean we do
not prepare the item. Sometimes we have to draw a line because folks
just get overwhelmed with options!” So if there is something you saw on
another caterer’s menu, or on a favorite restaurant, by all means tell
us about it and we are always game to try something new.!
